Christmas Gifting with Fortnum & Mason
Every year, without fail, I make a pilgrimage to Fortnum & Mason during the run up to Christmas. There really is nowhere quite like it. Every year, without fail, I make a pilgrimage to Fortnum & Mason during the run up to Christmas. There really is nowhere quite like it. My first glimpse of the outside of the store, decorated for Christmas instantly gives me all the Christmas feels (did you know, it’s even included in the London sightseeing tours at Christmas?). So for me, Fortnum’s IS Christmas. And their amazing website has everything you could possibly wish for to make Christmas extra-special.
I tend to buy the beautiful tins of Christmas biscuits (with the prettiest sounding names – Rose, Violet, Pistachio & Clotted Cream, Chocolossus… ) – they really make the loveliest gifts, and they start at just £6.95. I would always buy my aunt one of the musical tins at Christmas, which she loved, and collected them to display in her kitchen. Also, I think it’s always so lovely to give someone an ‘edible gift’ that they can then share with visitors over the festive season. No one will be turning down a Fortnum & Mason biscuit with their cup of tea! But there are plenty of other edible options, including no less than five types of hot chocolate! The thing I love about an F&M gift is that no matter how small a token, it will always look chic. I think a beautiful tin of hot chocolate would make the loveliest gift/stocking filler.
Of course, the jewel in the Fortnum’s crown will always be their amazing hampers. I mean, who’s not going to love receiving one of those? And you get to enjoy the chicest hamper basket year-round afterwards. The hampers come in all shapes and sizes (with varying price tags to suit all budgets), but whichever one you pick, you’ll find extraordinary things to eat, drink and enjoy beneath that wicker lid. I have shared my favourites below. I also think a hamper makes a great collective gift from a group of people, and obviously if you’re sharing the cost, a truly special, iconic gift is much more affordable.
The Gift Boxes are also a great option, and of course, the packing is also super-chic. The Christmas Pamper Gift Box is a gorgeous option for someone in need of a bit of downtime this Christmas. It’s filled with everything you could possibly need for a pampering soak in the bath (the bath truffles alone are so pretty…). And breathe.
