The Last… With Micaela Sharp

Micaela Sharp is an interior designer, broadcaster and upholsterer. She has appeared various TV shows, including Changing Rooms, Interior Design Masters, and Woodland Workshop. She also writes a column for Reclaim Magazine, celebrating independent makers; runs an online upholstery course with Create Academy, as well as a brand with fellow designer Charlotte Beevor called Studio Janettie. Micaela, now living in Malaga, works as a designer internationally.

Time you danced?
Yesterday around my apartment in Malaga, listening to 90’s pop.

Thing you bought from an actual shop?
A dress from an independent shop because I’m not a fan of online shopping for clothes.

Thing you brought online?
Botanical fabric from Interior Curve for an upcoming project.

Person you spoke to?
Some of my best friends are visiting me at the moment, so we’ve been non-stop talking for the past three days. I’m so happy and grateful to catch up with them in person.

Podcast you listened to?
I still love ‘Diary of a CEO’ and ‘How to Fail’. I always learn a little nugget of wisdom.

New brand you discovered?
Lamps by Superfluties.

Film you watched at the cinema?
Barbie.

TV series you watched at home?
Schitts Creek – I’m forever rewatching it.

Restaurant you ate at?
Cavala in Malaga.

Takeaway you ordered?
Truffle pizza.

Book you read?
The List by Yomi Adegoke.

Magazine you flicked through?
House and Garden.

Country you visited?
Well I live in Spain now, but the last place I visited other than the UK was Georgia.

Town you walked around? 
I love discovering new places in my new home city of Malaga, it’s so beautiful and there are so many wonderful rooftops to relax on.

Time you laughed until you cried?
With my friends Tanya and Kim who know just what to say to leave me in tears!

Thing you do at night before switching off the light? 
My skincare routine, write a list for the next day and some breathwork.

Meal you cooked? 
I’m not much of a cook. I tend to only make brunch on the weekends. I make a great poached egg-based meal.

Cocktail you drank?
Margarita after margarita.

Play you saw?
I love a musical so most of my theatre trips tend to be for those. I think the last one I saw was Frozen.

Thing you baked?
Not a baker at all.

Thing you burnt?
Everything I try to cook!

Time you said sorry?
Recently to my favourite seven year old for a mixup about a dog toy.

Person you kissed? 
That would be telling!

Travelled by bus?
My last trip to London, between Shoreditch and Hackney.

I swear a lot. Is that bad?

I don’t really have a sweet tooth but I do love a bourbon or a custard cream.

My Boden teddy jacket in green.

Amber incense.

I tell my friends every time we speak.
