Des’s Autumn Wish List

Autumn (minus the torrential downpours) is my favourite season for style. I love getting wrapped up in layers with a good coat/boot combo, so I need no encouragenment when it comes to the opportunity to seek out new season staples and put together my autumn wish list. The must haves goes as follows…. chunky flat boots, masculine coat, chic flats, tailoring, denim, oversized knits, chocolate brown (the new tone de rigueur) and cashmere, cashmere, cashmere!
I have 100% given up on heels and lockdown totally sealed the deal, so autumn footwear will be very much of the flat variety and even for evening I will be keeping it low. The exception is clogs but technically speaking they are still a flat!
A good coat is normally up there on my purchase list, but I’m not in need of a new one this season as my current one is still looking good (mostly due to the fact that it didn’t get much of an airing last winter)!! The cover ups in this edit are those that I am having to resist the urge to splurge on as I’m trying to practice being a more mindful shopper, plus these The Row boots  (they’ve been living rent free in my mind for a few seasons now) are basically going to use up all my budget!!
I’m a huge fan of tonal dressing and my new head-to-toe obsession is chocolate brown. It is not for everyone but not too much of a stretch for little miss ‘my wardrobe is full of black over here’! I will be buying a few key pieces in my signature ‘girls who dress like boys’ style of slouchy tailoring, oversized knits and shirts. New purchases are only allowed if 1. I don’t own something similar or 2. said item needs replacing – the brown ensemble fits into category 1 as I own zero chocolate brown items!
Knitwear rates very high in my autumn go-to’s and cashmere is my weakness – I pretty much wear a sweater every day throughout the season, they are such a good all-rounder and go with everything in my wardrobe, from my jeans and slouchy trousers, to silk maxi skirts and slip dresses. I’m tall (5″9) and like an oversized fit, so I often go for mens styles as they tend to be roomy and longer in the arms and body.
That pretty much covers it apart from a few bags, the odd dress and skirt (by this I literally mean one of each, I’m a trouser girl at heart)! Enjoy!
