It’s so nice to be chatting tall style. If you read my last post for Little Spree, you’ll know that as a 6ft fashion lover, I have come to find my sartorial step now I’m firmly in my 40’s. That’s not to say I always look good – but I know what I like, what suits me, and what I feel comfortable and confident in. I really don’t buy much – only a few pieces each season. So any new additions to my wardrobe need to work hard and have longevity.
Here are the pieces currently catching my eye, that could work for you too if you are long of limb.

Gilets
I love the whole vibe of a thrown over a sweater/shirt for a really cool transitional piece. It adds interest, and with this one the drawstring waist allows you to ‘pull in’ the fabric and add shape to your silhouette. I also love that it’s a patterned fabric, so elevates my everyday plain basics.
Trenches
I’m obsessed with trench coats (and own far too many), but I just think us tall girls carry them off well and I wear them for many months each year. As ever, I love that the belt can be used to give us shape and definition. This is a great one – long length, and the two tone is really chic. It’s no bother if the arm length is cropped, and I find it preferable if the sleeves are rolled up for that nonchalant vibe.
I also have this one (told you I’m a trench addict). It’s definitely an investment, but I love how versatile it is – it’s reversible and a really nice reinterpretation of a classic wardrobe staple. I know I’ll wear it for years to come.
Shirts/Tops
I love having kind of denim utility shirt in my wardrobe. I’d wear it under the , sleeves rolled back, with maybe a underneath popping out at the cuffs.
I adore an . Fab for achieving that Lady Di Sloane look, tucked in (and rouched out) with a rigid pair of high waisted, cropped jeans and pumps., but equally useful on a beach holiday (remember those?) – thrown over swimwear.
A classic Breton will always have a space in my wardrobe one has a cute frill details to differentiate it from the others I own.
Trousers/Jeans
I do find designer denim and trousers to be the best cut for long legs. I get a lot of my day-to-day denim from the high street, but always splurge on a few designer additions each year. These would look great with the floral gilet.
I’m newly converted to . Great length, comfy, and really reasonable. Come up large/stretches, so defo go down a size.
Jumpers/Sweaters
The trend for cropped knitwear is not a tall girl’s friend. But luckily there are plenty of longer length options for us out there, so we can swerve flashing our bras.
I have this cardigan and it’s a really soft and versatile piece.
I know some tall ladies don’t like buying from the men’s department, but I live and die in men’s cashmere sweaters from Uniqlo. I love the relaxed but not baggy fit, and the quality is great. I have them in navy, grey and tan. These are also perfect for adding a to, for an added feminine touch. A great way to update the jumper each season (check out 46 Stitch for the prettiest selection around). Alternatively, much like Sarah – I love a pretty blouse with a ruffle collar popping out.
Only since lockdown times have I been converted to . Super-cosy, but actually I think it looks really cute having the hood poking out of a trench or a gilet, and great on those chillier spring days. Love the too.
Dresses
When the good times roll again I want to be wearing this dress. I love how understated, yet elegant it is (I have another Rejina Pyo sale purchase dress and I have worn it to death). If you’re tall you can carry off details such as the cape style back of the dress. Shouders back, head up – I think it would make you feel, and look, a million dollars.
would be a really easy, throw on dress in the warmer months.
Just love this dress. Forget what people say about not wearing vertical stripes if you’re tall. These faint lines will be just fine, and the fluted ruffle hem and neck add shape to a straight up and down figure. The wide sash belt can be positioned at the right point of your waist and used to create further definition.
Also adore this one, and the long sleeves make it a great, easy to wear choice. Where as our more petite friends may be swamped by this dress style, taller ladies can get away with it.
Such a beautiful dress. Perfect for summer evenings, I would dress it down with a denim jacket over my shoulders, and gold or tan flats. When you take off your jacket the beautiful understated bow back is revealed.
Bags
Bags have sadly become pretty much redundant this past year. So when popping to the shops, a with room for a card and a mask is currently sufficient.
When times return to needing to carry my laptop and a whole host of things around, I’ll go for this. I adore Olive leather – always so chic. And as a tall girl we can carry off oversize bags without looking like an Olsen twins meme.
Also love the chicness of this leather basket-effect tote.
Shoes
I just don’t think you can beat a beatiful tan leather ballet flat, some sun kissed ankle on show and a cropped jean.
If money were no object, these would be mine (love the rigid bow).
Great simple gold sandals. I have a very similar pair from Zara that have last me 6 summers and work with everything. Buy now as the good ones are always gone by the time the sun shines.
Belts
Still my fave belt; love the detail, colour, how relaxed it looks, and that you can use it over a dress/jumper/jacket etc. The only belt you need really. Perfect over that floral gilet too.
This Mango dupe is a great wallet friendly alternative…
Sleepwear
PJs that are long enough for me (although to be fair, I’d like the new shorts version for summer).
