Places To Eat…
On our first night we ate at Jansz., which is described as a ‘modern Dutch restaurant’. Â You can access it from the street or the hotel. It didn’t disappoint. The food was sensational, the service impeccable (this is something we really noticed in Amsterdam in general – the service in restaurants is consistently excellent (and we’re not just talking about the expensive places either), and the setting pared-back chic, with pale pink accents (get a window table if you can).
Jansz. also has a ‘Winter Garden’ (open from Thursday to Sunday) that serves fondu (amongst other things) in the beautiful garden within the hotel. Heaters and gorgeous blankets keep you cosy. It’s such a unique and special setting.
On our second day we had lunch at Pulitzer Garden, which has tables inside and outside (we were inside), where they serve simple, delicious crowd-pleasers including lobster spaghetti, risotto, burgers, and club sandwiches. We chose to sit at the bar, which was lovely (and great for people-watching at the nearby hotel lobby).
On our second evening we went to Sinck (it came highly recommended by a friend who travels to Amsterdam regularly) and we loved it. I left it really late to book, so we just sat at the bar downstairs, which was so relaxed and informal. We loved it. And just a short walk from the hotel. Again, absolutely gorgeous food. We both agreed that we hadn’t eaten this consistently well for a very long time! And again, next-level service – super-friendly and hugely-knowledgale/informative (I wasn’t drinking, but Tom had a different wine with each course, each recommend by the staff – it was like an impromptu  mini wine tasting!
One last thing – when we were out on our bikes (you can borrow them from the hotel), we came across a stall selling Oliebollen (the Dutch equivalent of a doughnut, but better).  They have an option with raisins and they were SO good. You absolutely  have to try one!
