Decking The Halls In Style With Lisa Mehydene

Founder of Edit.58, Lisa shares her festive favourites, and tricks and tips for decorating your home for Christmas

Dressing our home for Christmas brings me untold joy. Whether that’s decorating the tree, the Christmas table, the front door, fireplace, staircase –  nowhere is safe from a festive flourish! Below are my selects of pieces I already own and bring out year after year, or I will be purchasing for our home this Christmas.

Other decorations I have my eye on to add to our collection…

A tree skirt ends up getting hidden by presents so I loathe to spend much on one. These are both great options for a simple fuss free look.

Deck the Halls…

En Masse paper decorations look fabulous. I adore this striped design (both
colourways) and plan to use multiples to create garlands interspersed with these plain ones (in all colourways).

Deck the Mantle…

Stockings and Sacks
There’s nothing quite as exciting as hanging your stockings and sacks in anticipation of a visit from the Big Man himself. This year at edit58, we have collaborated with Smock London to bring the traditional, nostalgic art of hand smocking to ‘Smockings’ and Festive Sacks. We hope these will be much loved pieces that become a part of your family festive traditions.

Deck the Table…

I think simple is best – a lovely tablecloth, napkins, candles and a few choice
decorations dotted down the centre make for the prettiest Christmas table.

Napkins
You could go matchy-matchy with gingham napkins from the same range or mix it up with a contrasting pattern or plain.

Table decorations…

I love to use tree decorations on the table for some Christmas Kitsch. Food themed decs work well for obvious reasons. I’ll be using these grouped onto pedestal stands, or in bowls. They would work equally well used as a name place on each plate…

Candle Holder (right)
Simple and classic (gold colourway for me, but whatever
works for your table!)
